Follow any figure back to its source

Each figure from your books traces to your export. A separate review goes to a reviewer that did not build the package and cannot edit it, when a package is sent for that review. This page covers what gets checked on every build, and how you check the work yourself.

Sample data, $ thousands. Specimen Commercial Services Co., a made-up company. The trace ends where your own export begins.

What holds the output up

Memo figures carry cell references

Figures are calculated from your exports. Each figure in the written memo carries a tab and cell reference back into the workbook, and when general ledger detail is supplied, it's footed to the trial balance by account and period.

A reviewer that did not build the work, and cannot edit it

Each package goes through an automated check, and where a deck is built, it confirms the headline figures read the same in the workbook and the deck. A package sent for separate review goes to a reviewer that did not build it and cannot edit it.

All numbers trace back to the source

What to do with the file when it lands

The automated checks and the separate review are ours. Here is how to run your own.

Click the number you trust least

Click into it and you see the cells it points at. Keep going. The schedule points at the add-back row, the row points at the account, and the account points at the trial balance line as you exported it.

Change an input

Reject an add-back or move an assumption, and the schedules move with it. The input cells are wired to the outputs, so the package behaves like a model you own.
